Blackula" was my first encounter with vampire cinema. As a young girl, the film took me for quite a loop - it was intense, to say the least. Years later, in my twenties, I found myself watching the 1931 version of "Dracula," which felt tamer by comparison. My journey through vampire films concluded with "Dracula Untold," whose compelling storyline kept me completely engaged.
Never did I imagine I'd one day write a vampire story of my own. The inspiration struck unexpectedly while watching content by Domo Draper. His videos presented vampires not as mere myths, but as something more intriguing. Having practiced Islam, I was familiar with stories of Djinn walking among humans. Different cultures have their own names for what we know as vampires, which made me wonder: how can so many societies share similar legends if there isn't some truth behind them?
If you want to see more of his videos here's a compilation.
The story came to me in fragments. At first, I let it go, but it returned the next day with more detail. I started writing everything down, letting the plot unfold naturally. What began as "Eternal Embrace," a straightforward paranormal romance, evolved into something more complex during the editing process. After working on the second half for two days, I decided to combine everything into one book with two parts, renaming it "Ancient Bloodlines."
My writing process is organic - I don't deliberately construct my characters. Instead, they introduce themselves to me within the story, almost like automatic writing. While the characters emerged naturally, I did extensive research on vampire lore across different cultures, incorporating various cultural interpretations into my narrative.
The result is a paranormal romance with action elements that I hope will keep readers engaged. I'm grateful to Domo Draper for being the unexpected muse behind this journey, and I look forward to sharing this story with readers when it's released.
